I’m Starting a Public Learning Journal. This is the First Entry.
There is so much content in the world, but I feel like I'm starving for actual knowledge.
That's the thought that was running through my head on my commute home tonight. My feeds are full of quick takes and shallow advice, and I've been craving something that respects my time—something worth bookmarking, rereading, and truly thinking about. I decided I want my online time to be more intentional.
And then, as if on cue, God delivered a sign. I stumbled upon a podcast called "Talking About Organizations." I played it, not expecting much, but it was exactly what I had been searching for. It was a dense, insightful conversation that didn't offer easy answers but instead offered brilliant questions and frameworks for thinking.
It didn’t just give me something to listen to; it gave me an idea for this space.
The Idea for This Space
This blog is now my space for deeper thinking. The idea is to use it as a public learning journal.
My plan is simple: Whenever an idea—from a podcast, an article, a book, or just a stray thought—sparks something in me, I'll explore it here. My aim is to connect interesting concepts to my own experiences and try to distill one valuable insight per post that's worth saving.
This isn't about quick hacks. It's about building a personal library of well-considered ideas.
An Idea That Sparked This
For example, that podcast episode got me thinking about the concept of institutional theory—the observation that organizations often start to look and act the same, sometimes in ways that defy logic. It suggests there are invisible forces at play that are much deeper than just lazy management.
That’s the kind of rabbit hole I want this blog to explore. I’m not sure what I’ll be writing about next, but it will be something that captures my curiosity in the same way.
